Cast glass mouse sculpture

This piece's inspiration is based on Morag's younger son who was diagnosed with ADHD and Autism a few years ago. Takiwatanga is the Moroa word for Autism meaning "In His Own Time and Space".  The  handmade  base I commissioned especially for this piece, and the glass dome was blown by the renowned glass blower Bruce Marks, who works at London Glass Blowing in Bermondsey.

About Morag Reekie

Morag Reekie studied Sculpture at Sheffield Hallam University before graduation and starting her family. In 2015 she began working with her father, David Reekie, who is a glass artist. In October 2015 she started to make her own cast glass work, using the lost wax technique.

Using the lost wax technique Morag creates unique forms using wax to sculpt with the level of detail she requires before casting them in coloured glass. She likes to add found objects or other props to her work, transforming them into a piece of art, changing their purpose and giving them a new lease of life. Morag's objective is to inspire thought and to make people smile!
