Autumn Falls Forever (2024) marks a distinct departure from the bold lines and precise acrylic pen work seen in earlier pieces. Instead, this painting embraces a softer, more fluid approach, where delicate brushstrokes suggest a sense of unfinished growth. The florals appear incomplete, their edges fading into the canvas as if still evolving, evoking the natural cycle of seasonal change. Soft greens and muted yellows provide a tranquil foundation, while accents of crimson, amber, and pale lilac weave through the composition. This expressive layering, paired with the intentionally unrefined details - creates a feeling of movement and impermanence, capturing autumn’s quiet transition. As part of the Autumn Falls series, this painting reflects nature's delicate balance between growth and decline.
Hayley Anne Montague is an Essex and London-based artist specialising in botanical abstract florals rendered in oil and acrylic on canvas. Her work combines bold brushstrokes, vibrant colour blends, and intricate detailing achieved through layers of wet and dry paint, applied with both brush and acrylic pen.
Inspired by the organic beauty of wild plants and flowers, Hayley's intuitive approach brings a sense of movement and life to each piece. Her collections, such as Monochrome Botanica, Autumn Falls, Wildflowers, and The Wallflower Collection, explore themes ranging from tonal contrast and textural complexity to the subtle shifts in light and emotion associated with seasonal landscapes.
In March 2025, Hayley showcased her Wildflowers collection at The Other Art Fair held at The Truman Brewery in London. The exhibition featured both original works and limited edition prints, all signed and authenticated by the artist.
Through her art, Hayley seeks to preserve the essence of ephemeral beauty found in natural landscapes, offering viewers a sensory refuge - a space to engage with the world's beauty unencumbered by constraint or trepidation. Her work invites viewers to find a shared sanctuary resonating with freedom and solace.
