About Cath Gillingham

A contemporary painter whose vibrant abstract still life and landscapes explore the intersection of colour and form.  Loosely influenced by the Cubist Movement Cath’s work reimagines everyday subjects through simplified shapes and layered perspectives. 

The artist uses both canvas and panel and regularly over works on the surfaces so the presence of earlier images, forms and textures can be seen in the final piece.  These hidden layers create a unique form of art texture adding depth and history, telling a story of the works evolution. 

She holds a BA and MA in Fine Art and continues to experiment and evolve in her practice, finding inspiration in the ordinary and transforming it into something joyful and expressive.
