About Derek Blois

Although born in Essex, Derek has lived in Aylsham for the past 40 years, so he's nearly a local!

After leaving school and a few years in the Police Force, Derek spent five years at Art School, finishing at Brighton Art School where he gained a BA (Hons) in design and Illustration. After some years co-owning a design agency he has spent the last 12 years painting.

Derek has now become an award-winning military aviation and maritime artist and the vast majority of his work is commissioned from the British Army, Royal Air Force, and Royal Navy as well as the military in the USA.
He is a full member of the Guild of Aviation Artists (GAvA).

When he creates a gap in the commissions he loves to paint subjects very much away from his military work. These paintings are an example of this work.

Away from painting Derek is very much involved with Soul Church in Norwich where he is currently an Elder.'
